Makeup storage

Today I decided to show you guys how I store my makeup as I find these really interesting to watch on YouTube and tried to recreate it on my blog. For each section, I’ll tell you some of my favourite product, but not all of them. dsc_1083I store all my makeup, in the Alex 9 Drawers from Ikea, which is so predictable and basic aha ! I got these for Christmas and  I really like these as they’re really thin and fit neatly in the corner of my room and as they’re so tall I can fit all my beauty and skincare products in them. Most of my makeup is stored in takeaway tubs, as they’re free and can fit perfectly into the drawers.

On the top of my drawers, I have a lipstick holder from Tk Maxx, where I store all my lip-glosses, liquid lipsticks and lipsticks which I regularly. Some of my favourites are the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in the shade 50 , Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker and Nyx Lip lingerie in the shade . Next to that I keep all my brushes in a fake skura pot from Hobby Craft, I’m not going to talk about these as I have a blog post planned. Finally, at the front I keep my Mac Lipstick in the shade Velvet Teddy, which is my absolute favourite.

In the first drawer, I keep the majority of my makeup. I’m going to start down in the front left, where I keep all my concealers and brow products. As concealer is my favourite makeup product, I just love trying out new ones which explains why I have so many !! On a daily basis I use the Collection Lasting Perfection and Rimmel Wake Me Up.

Next to that, I keep all my foundations and only primer : Barry M Hydro Water. I don’t really wear foundation, but really love The Rimmel Lasting Finish which provides really high coverage. Behind my concealers, are my face products : blush, powder, highlighter. I really like The I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Blush as it’s such a nice colour, I also really like the Technic Liquid Highlighter.

Right at the back, I have my mascaras and eye liners. Again, this is a bit of a full tub as I also really love mascara. Out of them all,  I reach for The Maybelline Lash Sensational or Seventeen’s Super Lash, as they both make my eyelashes look really long and curly. Finally, in the last part of this drawer I just keep my small brushes, Beauty Blenders and single small products. This section is abit random as they’re too small to put anywhere else. One of my favourite single eyeshadows is from MUA, which is in the Copper and it’s just so perfect!

In my second drawer, I just keep all my pallets and lip products. I have quite a few pallets, mostly eyeshadow. My all time favourite is Easy On The Eye from Seventeen, which includes the most gorgeous range of nude shades. However, I ‘ve recently been loving The Pink Fizz palette from I Heart Makeup as it includes lots of colours abit out of my comfort zone, which I like experimenting with.

I’d love to do a whole Alex 9 Drawer Tour, so let me know down below in the comments if that’s something you’re interested in!

How to kick off your new year right

New Year is perfect time to make big or small changes in your life. Whever this years resolution was to be more organised or finally taking the time to do something you’ve kept putting off. Whatever your reason, this time of years perfect to do something for your self to make life a little bit easier and make some simple changes.

Have a Clear Out – Look inside your wardrobe and throw out any clothes that don’t fit you any more or you haven’t worn in a long time. This can be hard, ‘but what if I will want to wear it again?’, if you haven’t worn something in the past year then question if you really need it. With the clothes you don’t want you can either sell them online or help someone else by donating them to charity.dsc_0380

Start up a journal – This can be any type of journal you wish – a dream journal, a bullet journal, a diary. To organise all my school work and other events, I’m going to be using my Bando ‘ I am very busy’ planner.  Which includes a monthly and weekly view, also lots of other cute things like, art work and stickers. However, I will be start up again my ‘one thought a day journal’, which I write down one thing about the previous day. I’ve this a great way to record memories and dreams without have to write paragraphs of text, like a diary.dsc_0788

Reorganise your desk/workspace – If you don’t have a desk or a quite place to work without being disturbed, I recommend you get one. You to have to spend lots of money on a desk a table anywhere will do. From the top, clear of any clutter, keeping only necessary supplies. Update any files and sort out any paper into it’s place. If you want to make a real effort I suggest wiping it down to remove any marks from the previous year and start a fresh.dsc_0392

Save your money – At the moment I’m saving up for a new phone and needed a place to keep all my savings. Even if you don’t have a particular something you’re saving up for, everyone could benefit from having some money ‘ for a rainy day’. dsc_0777

This Year …

I don’t know if any of you will remember this, but this time last year I did a post ( Find that post here)about my resolutions for this year, 2016, and thought I’d start this post by talking about how well I’ve  stuck to them.dsc_0689

More Confident – I think I’m slowly becoming more confident in places like school, but no massive change here, and it will take much more time to get over. Room Makeover – I’ve definitely sorted this and I’m now really happy with my space, with the addition of my new desk and drawers. There’s the odd thing that could be changed but as a whole I’m really happy with it now.

Something I’m going to try and do this year is develop and grow my blog, as it’s one of my favourite things to do and want to make it as good as it can be. So I’ve created some goals and resolutions to help me do this :

Followers Goal : I’m definitely not do this for the followers, however I would like to build up a small following who this all seem worth while.

  • My Blog – 100 followers
  • Bloglovin  – 250 followers
  • Twitter – 100 followers
  • Instagram – 700 followers

Post more consistently – at the moment I post when ever I can find the time, which can be any time. This year I will try and post every Sunday, with occasional extra posts in the week.dsc_0691

Collabs – This year I’ve collaborated with some amazing and generous brands and bloggers and want to do even more in the new year. I really enjoy writing with other writers with different styles. If you would like to colab check out my contact page at the top.

New and Exciting – As well as providing you with some of the classic blog posts, I want to add some more variety and unique posts to keep people interested.

Bullet journal run down #1

It’s now been a month since I’ve started my bullet journal and I’d love to share with you, how I’ve been getting on. As I’ve only been doing this a month it will look quite messy, I’m still trying to find my niche and what works for me.

What is it and why would you choose to use it?
If the dairy and to-do list had a baby, this would be the beautiful result. Compared to a diary it is much more free and personal, making you feel no pressure if you miss out a few days. What I love about it is you can make it can be whatever you want, there’s no rules.

Daily Spread

What I use?
For bullet journaling, I recommend use a plain or dotted notebook, as lines or squares will make it hard to read and confusing, you can find these in any stationary store. However, it should be of fairly good quality as you don’t want the ink to transfer or it to break, as you’ll be using it everyday. To colour-code in my journal, I like to use the Ink Joy pens, from Papermate, as they’re really vibrant and colourful. One thing I don’t think’s a good idea is using Sharpies as they transfer really bad on most paper, the only time I use them is on stickers.

My favorite spreads
Other than the basic monthly, fortnightly, and daily spreads I like to mix it up a bit. One of my favorite spreads to help me keep track of the things I should be doing daily, is the habit tracker. This clearly shows, in a bar chart, how I’m getting on with daily tasks, the aim is to get a full line of colour. Another spread I like to use is my blog post planner and socials stats to keep up with my posting on here and my growth over the past month.

weekly spread and checklist

I plan on doing another one of these soon in greater detail so look out for that one.
